Venue

Paasitorni

The Helsinki Congress Paasitorni

Paasitorni was originally built in the early 1900s and designed by architect Karl Lindahl. It represents late Art Nouveau style with its facade, main staircase, and the Congress Hall adorned with images and symbols of various occupations, celebrating craftsmanship.

During the Finnish Civil War in 1918, the building served as headquarters for the Reds and was heavily damaged, necessitating reconstruction of parts like the tower and Congress Hall after the conflict.

In the mid-1990s, Paasitorni underwent a significant restoration, aiming to preserve its historical integrity while adapting to modern needs. This project included preserving the original art nouveau elements while expanding the facility with new constructions to allow it to work as modern congress center.
